Growing up by the sea in South Shields, England, Geoff has always been fascinated by forces of the sea and their impact on the coastline. He observes the impact both permanently through erosion and temporarily with shifting sands. Much of his early work explored issues of landscape and water poverty.

Trained in both metalwork and ceramics, Geoff's practice involves processes of metamorphic changes from flat sheets of steel or solid blocks of clay to hollow structures making either functional or contemporary visual objects. Previously having worked as an engineer and with the environment for 10 years in East Africa, Geoff's influences heavily derive from traditional African techniques and styles, finishing his pieces with contemporary glazes that reflect his experience of inequity in the developing world. Currently based in Edinburgh, Geoff teaches pottery and runs Stockbridge Ceramics with his partner.
