She enjoys the duality of mixing precision with playfulness.

Rowena's production process is intensive, taking several weeks to produce unique pieces. Her work starts scientifically, researching and developing clay slips and her own colours. The next stage is more spontaneous, cutting the clay with metal tools before preparing and firing the final piece. She enjoys the duality of mixing precision with playfulness; building layers in a highly controlled manner, before etching bold markings into the surface and adding brushed glazes with impulsivity and freedom.

A celebration of the natural world around her, Rowena's ceramics are informed by her daily observations, travels, and life around her coastal hometown. Focusing on the language of abstraction is key to her work as she encompasses the ever-shifting dynamism of nature through mood and momentum.
