Her pieces depict plant forms caught in a brief moment of time, inviting the viewer to imagine what they might become.

Ellen derives much of her inspiration from domestic gardens and several visits to botanical gardens. Her current works focus on organic ceramic sculptures which are influenced by plants in transition, either gently opening up or slowly progressing to its next stage of decaying. Her pieces depict plant forms caught in a brief moment of time, inviting the viewer to imagine what they might become.

Observing the life cycle of plants through her works, Ellen's sculptures are best displayed in outdoor settings where the natural play of light and shadow adds a dynamic element to her pieces.
