Arran Ross's "Buddhanaut - Verdigris" presents a captivating fusion of ancient spirituality and cosmic exploration. This 14 cm ceramic sculpture depicts a seated Buddha figure wearing what appears to be a space helmet, creating an intriguing juxtaposition between Eastern philosophical traditions and modern space travel. The verdigris patina creates a weathered green surface on the Buddha's robes, while striking gold leaf details trace across the figure's form and helmet, adding a sense of reverence and otherworldliness. The deep blue visible within the helmet's visor creates a cosmic void, suggesting both inner contemplation and outer space exploration simultaneously.

The Spiritual Meets the Cosmic
Displayed on a simple plinth, this small yet impactful ceramic piece commands attention through its conceptual depth rather than physical size. The work invites viewers to contemplate the connection between inner spiritual journeys and humanity's exploration of the universe beyond our planet. As part of Ross's ongoing series exploring this theme, "Buddhanaut - Verdigris" creates a focal point in any space, drawing the eye with its rich colour contrast and provoking thought about the intersection of ancient wisdom and future discovery. The sculpture's compact form allows it to be appreciated from multiple angles, revealing different aspects of its meticulous craftsmanship as one moves around it.
