Catherine Sargeant's "Sea Circle - Dreaming" invites viewers into a meditative aquatic realm through its captivating interplay of materials and colour. This circular mixed media piece, measuring 17 cm in diameter, combines oil, gloss and pigments on plywood to create a mesmerising seascape of turquoise and teal tones. The swirling patterns and textural variations evoke the fluid movement of water, with lighter azure areas appearing to float across deeper green depths. The word "dreaming" is subtly incorporated into the composition, partially revealed along the upper edge, reinforcing the artwork's contemplative quality. Sargeant's technique masterfully balances controlled application with the organic flow of materials, creating a piece that seems both deliberate and spontaneously formed, like the natural patterns of tide pools or aerial views of coastal waters.

Circular Art and Spatial Impact
The round format of this artwork creates a distinctive presence when displayed, breaking from traditional rectangular frames and drawing the eye with its perfect symmetry. When hung on a wall, "Sea Circle - Dreaming" becomes a portal-like window into an ethereal underwater world, inviting moments of calm reflection. The compact size creates an intimate viewing experience that encourages closer inspection of the detailed surface variations. The luminous quality of the gloss elements catches and reflects light differently throughout the day, ensuring the piece remains dynamic within its environment. This contemplative artwork would bring a sense of tranquility to personal spaces such as reading nooks, meditation areas, or anywhere a moment of peaceful escape is desired.
