Catherine Sargeant's "Sea Circle - Meditative" invites viewers into a contemplative oceanic realm through her innovative mixed media approach. This circular work (30 cm in diameter) combines oil, gloss and pigments on aluminium, creating a swirling seascape of misty blues, whites and deep indigos that evoke the mysterious depths and foaming surfaces of the sea. The word "meditative" appears partially submerged within the composition, emerging from the textured surface like a mantra rising through waves. Sargeant's masterful layering technique creates a sense of depth and movement, with the metallic aluminium base lending a subtle luminosity that shifts with changing light, mirroring the ever-changing nature of water itself.

The Meditative Power of Circular Art
Displayed on a wall, this perfectly round artwork creates a portal-like effect, drawing the eye into its oceanic world while the circular format suggests continuity, wholeness and the eternal cycle of tides. The piece transforms any space with its calming presence, serving as a focal point for reflection and mindfulness. The aluminium substrate not only provides a contemporary aesthetic but also interacts dynamically with ambient light, ensuring the artwork's appearance subtly evolves throughout the day, much like the sea itself. "Sea Circle - Meditative" exemplifies how contemporary art can serve both as visual pleasure and as a tool for contemplation, offering a moment of tranquility in our busy lives.
