Richard studied Graphic Arts and Design at Leeds Beckett University and helped set up the Leeds Print Workshop. He obtained a Masters in Fine Art Practice at Glasgow School of Art in 2018 and now continues to develop his professional practice at the Glasgow Print Studio where he also works as a Gallery Assistant.

Richard draws influences from architecture, initially taking inspiration from the geometric forms of brutalist buildings and more recently, studying the service cores of buildings which are under construction. Submitting to the whims of printmaking, his prints are often process-led where each layer of colour responds to the previous, narrating the story of their own creation. Intended to be viewed in a formalistic way, Richard's prints can truly be admired for their colour, composition and overall balance that provide a sense of order and tranquillity.
