Alison Jardine's "Rockpool IV" elegantly captures the essence of coastal tide pools in a striking glass sculpture. Standing 34 cm tall with a width of 17 cm at its broadest point, this freestanding piece features a gracefully curved form reminiscent of a boat or shell. The exterior showcases a deep, rich emerald green, while the interior reveals a captivating interplay of blues, greens, and translucent areas that evoke the magical underwater world of a Scottish rockpool. Jardine demonstrates exceptional technical skill in her manipulation of glass, creating organic patterns that mimic the movement of water and the delicate marine life found in these coastal microhabitats. The subtle variations in colour and transparency invite the viewer to peer inside, much as one would gaze into an actual rockpool.

Natural Inspiration and Spatial Presence
When displayed on its simple wooden base, "Rockpool IV" transforms its surroundings with a serene yet dynamic presence. The sculpture captures light beautifully, allowing it to dance through the varying densities of glass and creating ever-changing effects throughout the day. This contemporary piece connects viewers to Scotland's rugged coastline and marine environments, translating the transient beauty of tidal ecosystems into a permanent art form. The sculpture's substantial yet refined form makes it an ideal focal point for a sideboard, shelf, or table, where its curved silhouette and luminous qualities can be fully appreciated from multiple angles, bringing a touch of coastal tranquility to any interior space.
