Pieces of Home evokes subtle memories and half-forgotten childhood playgrounds
Cast your mind back. Do you remember lazy after school afternoons? Playing outdoors through a golden haze as the sun slipped slowly under the horizon? Gill Knight does.
In this highly personal show, Gill evokes subtle scenes of childhood memories and half-forgotten natural playgrounds. She describes these memories as a vault of vivid scenes which serve as a never-ending source of inspiration for her paintings. Here, echoes of dandelions and warm days nestle against wild, stormy seas and the fresh embrace of flowers.
Using texture and various media to achieve layered, tactile effects, Gill externalises her emotions on canvas, giving us a glimpse into the artist's heart.
Each of the works in this residency exists at the borders between recollection and imagination. It's an ever changing balance that fluctuates and reflects passages from Gill's own life.
