There's a mystical glint in the sky at night. From the heavens the light of distant stars illuminates the landscape below. The moon shines down, parading silver highlights across land, city and sea.
Northern Lights is Clive Ramage's first solo show with Graystone Gallery and The Bell Rock is just one of several atmospheric lighthouse paintings that feature in the show. Other notable pieces include luminous moons in glittering skies, mixed-media cityscapes of Edinburgh and smaller watercolours and etchings of Scottish coastal villages, castles, and mountains.
Although initially influenced by the likes of Turner, Van Gogh, Schiele, Klimt and Whistler, Clive has developed his own unique style over the 15 years he has worked as a full-time professional artist. He takes inspiration primarily from his regular campervan travels around the country and his very personal and emotional relationship with the Scottish landscape and the seas that surround it.
