This series is a part of a larger body of work exploring memory titled, ‘Dwelling’. Here, Ella draws on remembered images, collecting together visual cues as a way of constructing new narratives through painting. She is fascinated by archival processes of collection, looking to how museums and other institutions gather artefacts of value and significance. Ella began to think of the following studies as a series of ‘artefacts’ of the everyday, taking pause to celebrate elements of the mundane and observed through paint. These studies form a part of my artistic process of gathering images to connect and curate into records of time periods, these memories of the mundane and nostalgic later reimagined as composite images culminating in larger scale canvas works.
