'As an abstract painter the idea of a new vision is inextricably linked to the act of painting as it exists where familiar ways of seeing fall away. By circumventing recognisable objects, abstraction disrupts habit and prompts the abandonment of expectation and certainty. It creates a space where perception can settle into a new order. Seeing is no longer about identifying, but sensing how forms and colours relate, communicate and resonate. There is a conscious decision to entrust intuition over depiction, and process over outcome. Marks, glyphs and strokes form a unique dialogue with each other on the surface, allowing the work to evolve rather than be projected. A new vision emerges through this visual conversation, not from a preconceived image but from attention and risk. Ultimately, abstract painting doesn’t illustrate a new vision; it enacts one. It enables us to see differently, to embrace ambiguity, and to recognise that transformation begins not with answers, but with a willingness to look anew.'
