She loves reinterpreting the familiar
Claire's inspiration comes from her beautiful surrounding environment producing a mixed portfolio in landscape, still life, design and illustration. She enjoys using observation and imagination – colour and subject matter are always on her mind. Referring to sketchbook thoughts and impulsive responses to ideas, she works quickly in mixed media on board and recycled card. She paints what she sees, not what is there, with no restrictions of perspective or scale. She loves reinterpreting the familiar, the whole thinking on her feet process endeavouring to bring spontaneity, freshness and joy to her work.
She has exhibited at The Green Gallery, The Watermill Gallery, The Glasgow Art Club, Glasgow Lighthouse, Studio 44, Galerie Écossaise, sold work for the RNLI, Marie Curie and completed multi-piece commissions for newly built properties. Claire has produced a board room commission for an international shipping company, provided illustration work for the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Mclaggan Smith Mugs and collaborated with Bluebellgray. She has also sold work at the hugely successful Artist Aid Ukraine Exhibition in Glasgow and Paisley’s Big Art Show. She is delighted that her paintings hang all over the UK and abroad.
