Penelope's work is based in landscape; she is drawn to the light, especially those fleeting moments which create momentary magic. The western isles are her main muse. Penelope likes to work en plein air initially, using water based medium to try and capture something quickly. Larger works are made back in the studio in oil paint; they start off within a figurative framework but can drift as my instincts take her, into something more abstract.
