Rose Strang, born and currently living in Edinburgh, has exhibited her work throughout the UK at prestigious venues including the Royal Scottish Academy, City Art Centre Edinburgh, and Gallery One Berlin. Her landscapes reflect a lifelong inspiration from the natural world, with brushwork that has evolved into an expressive response to elements both felt and observed. Rose's creative process often incorporates research into history, literature, and music, enriching her artistic interpretation of landscapes and the memories they hold.
Rose Strang's Artistic Journey
After completing her Honours degree in Fine Art in 1997 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Museum and Gallery Curation in 2000, Rose worked as both an arts curator and artist until 2012, when she decided to focus exclusively on painting. Her professional background includes working as lead artist and curator on public art projects for the NHS in Scotland and England, including a two-year project for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. In 2018, she achieved recognition by becoming a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA).
Notable Commissions and Exhibitions
In 2020, Rose was commissioned by The Folio Society London to create a series of nine paintings for their 2021 publication of the Scottish literary classic, "The Living Mountain" by Nan Shepherd. Her work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions, including "The Living Mountain: Dreaming a Response" at The Heriot Gallery and The Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh (2023), and "The Planets" at Demarco Galleries, Summerhall (2022). Her paintings are held in both public collections, such as The Demarco Archives, and private collections, including those of Professor Frances Fowle and Times art critic Giles Sutherland.

Her work is frequently featured in group exhibitions at respected galleries such as the Limetree Gallery in Bristol, Fidra Fine Art Gallery in Scotland, and the Resipole Gallery in Acharacle.
