Lorna creates fantastical landscapes and still lifes that are rooted in reality but are reimagined and transformed.

Lorna’s practice is directed by colour in the natural world, as it is colour that moves her to paint. Using a saturated and playful palette, Lorna creates fantastical landscapes and still lifes that are rooted in reality but are reimagined and transformed through her work. Paint is embedded onto canvas with heavy layering of oil paint, pigments and sand. Memories of travels to faraway dreamscapes are merged with scenes from her everyday life – rich botanical scenes, open windows and Lorna’s sprawling communal garden in Glasgow spill from her canvas and paper. Process driven; Lorna’s paintings derive from spontaneous sketches and imagination, providing a form of escapism.
