Amelia brings to life the quiet beauty found in everyday scenes.

Amelia McComb is an Edinburgh-based artist whose work captures the vibrancy of fleeting moments through bold use of color and delicate mark making. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, she brings a unique perspective to both her charcoal drawings of cats and her vibrant paintings of flowers, gardens, and Scottish shorelines. Her artistic approach celebrates nature's quiet beauty, whether depicting the graceful movement of a cat or the colorful interplay of light in a garden landscape.

Expressive Charcoal Techniques

Amelia works primarily with charcoal for her drawing work, embracing the medium's simplicity and rawness. Her cat drawings, which have been well-received at prestigious exhibitions including The Pastel Society Annual Exhibition in London and The Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibition, capture subtle movements like the flick of a tail or a raised ear to suggest mood and emotion. Working quickly with different softnesses of charcoal allows her to create fluid, expressive marks that bring emotional depth and a sense of spontaneity to her work.

Celebrating Nature's Colors

Beyond her drawing practice, Amelia explores the beauty of flowers, gardens and coastal landscapes through vibrant paintings. Working with acrylics, oils and pastels—often layering these media within a single piece—she creates works that celebrate the interplay of color, light and shapes. Her paintings explore both the calmness and bustle of coastal environments and gardens, focusing particularly on Scottish shorelines and landscapes. Through her distinctive artistic vision, Amelia continues to showcase her versatility while maintaining her signature ability to capture fleeting, evocative moments in nature.
