Margaretann Bennett RSW was born in Lanarkshire and now lives and works in Glasgow. After specializing in printed textiles at Glasgow School of Art, graduating in 1991, she chose to pursue fine art. She further developed her skills in printmaking at The Glasgow Print Studio and honed her technique as a painter over subsequent decades, establishing a unique and diverse visual vocabulary that combines collage and paint.

Margaretann has become well-known for her evocative landscapes, intimate still life compositions, and haunting figurative paintings. Her work has evolved through continuous exploration and boundary-pushing, gradually transforming toward darker imagery and narrative depth that explores themes of decay, remembrance, and mortality.
Recognition and Distinction
A regular exhibitor at prestigious annual exhibitions including the Royal Glasgow Institute (RGI), Royal Scottish Academy (RSA), and other Scottish Society exhibitions, Margaretann has received numerous awards throughout her career. Her significant contribution to Scottish art has been recognized with the distinctions of membership in the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) and Visual Arts Scotland (VAS).
