There’s a mystical glint in the sky at night. In the darkness, a light arcs across the ink-black sea, racing towards the Angus coastline. The searching beam scours the clifftops and casts harsh reality on the rocks below. Many a sailor has thanked that spartan pillar of light and many an artist has been inspired to capture its fleeting illumination of nocturnal beauty.
The Bell Rock is just one of several atmospheric lighthouse paintings that feature in Northern Lights, Clive Ramage’s first solo show with Graystone Gallery. Other notable pieces include luminous moons in glittering skies, mixed-media cityscapes of Edinburgh and smaller watercolours and etchings of Scottish coastal villages, castles, and mountains. In this Artist Talk, Clive refects on his ionterested and career.
